Hey hey,
You may have heard this before but I read this excerpt from the 1% Better newsletter.
Hope you like it:
“Make a list of all the people with whom you interact daily.
Break them into two groups:
Energizers: the people who fill your cup, who you enjoy being around, and who help you become the person you want to be
Drainers: the people who pull you back into bad habits and leave you feeling exhausted.
Optimize for time-around energizers.
Avoid drainers at all costs.”
Simple as that.
Have an amazing week.
P.S. - last week I had you send this to someone you like.
This week, send this to a hater.
They need help anyway.
Projects
Good things happening this week.
I’m finalizing the permits and licensing needed to operate in Peoria.
Still waiting for the lender to fund our deal to begin the buildout of our first mobile truck.
Here’s what I’m still working on over the next week with Novel:
Interviews for Novel #3
1-1’s with team members
Scout for location Novel #4
Blueprint for Mobile Truck #1
Planning collabs for the rest of the year
Content strategy and design for our main platform - Instagram (follow us @novelicecream)
Rebuild of our website (I’ve been sitting on this for a while) I built the original version but it’s a basic Squarespace site.
Still working on the inventory list to get some things ordered.
We got the electrical all wrapped up so we can start working with one of our newest machines.
Last week, I shared our first cup mockup, check it out here.
Here’s our sign mockup:
Needs for Remix this week:
Testing a portion of the drink menu
Touch up the exterior of the building
Work on menu design (I’ll send mockup when complete)
A few more interviews (already have about 6 killers ready to hire)
Finalize opening day merch drop design (I’ll send mockup when complete)
Schedule team to come in and set up the soda machine, ice machine and run a water line to the espresso machine
ACQUISITION #2
Still reviewing both of these deals:
Electrical company - San Antonio, TX
Landscaping and masonry company - Tucson, AZ
If you didn’t read last week’s post, I broke down why I like these deals here.
But this week…
I’m looking to raise capital for a commercial property purchase in Downtown Phoenix.
The deal is simple:
Purchase price - $1M
It’s a mixed-use property with 6 retail units.
I currently lease 2 of them.
If you’re interested in the deal, email me.
COMMUNITY
This community exists for one reason…
To connect and educate talented investors, founders, and professionals across the country.
And I’ve been working with communities in other states like Austin to bring more of you together.
So the next few months, I’ve some special updates and events coming.
Stay tuned.
We’re working on a virtual event you’ll really enjoy.
Also, a gentleman with a strong ETA/M&A community - Buy x Build, interviewed me a few weeks back.
He wrote a cool post about it…
Subscribe to his stuff while you’re there.

Podcast
One of the best podcasts on building brand and reputation:
Music
I found a cool channel - Book Club Radio. This one’s a vibe.
I’ve replayed the tune starting at 14:45 over 15 times now.
Please help.
Also, my friend and I are building the greatest podcast in the world.
It’s only on Spotify.
Health
2 marathons in 2 months down.
It’s been 2 weeks since LA and I’m already thinking “What’s next?”
I’m finding so much joy in doing hard things.
I’m now moving through this cut until early June so I’m putting some structure behind my training.
I’m going back to weight training 5-6 days a week and running at least 4 days a week.
IDK about you but I find it difficult to take “rest days”.
I’ll end up doing a hike, bike, or even a chill walk in the city.
Not saying you “should” do anything but moving your body every single day will do wonders for your mind.
I’ve never felt too good after sitting on the couch all day.
