Someone asked me a great question yesterday…
“How do you deal with the challenges of business ownership?”
My answer was simple.
I expect it to be hard.
I expect to wake up to a string of issues that need solving.
I’ve set that expectation in my mind.
It’s just part of the game.
Much of our feelings and reactions to life are based on our expectations.
So what if you reframed all expectations?
Would it help you deal with it all differently?

Projects
Novel #3 (Trailer) - We’re picking up the trailer on Monday.
We have more equipment to install but my pops and I will handle the rest.
I think we’ve been working on this since January so I’m excited to get it wrapped and ready to launch in July.
Here’s the revised wrap design… (I’m adding a few things but it’s almost there):
Novel #4 (Truck) - This is moving fast.
The shell is almost done so it’s time to get the equipment list finalized and everything ordered and sent over to their warehouse.
The vent on Saturday was amazing, we celebrated the launch of our new flavor - Ethan’s Creamy Surprise and Ethan brought out his group of friends and family.
We also got another nomination… crazy.
Here’s my power list (a mix of short and long-term projects):
Submit final plans to the city for Novel #3 (Trailer)
Finalize buildout of Novel #3 (Trailer) and get it inspected
Finalize list of equipment to send out to Novel #4 (Truck)
Look into new HQ or find a way to rework our existing HQ
We’re running out of room for Novels #3 and #4
Training is complete and our team is ready to roll.
We’ll be open Thursday through Sunday for now.
Here’s a visual of the shop with the menu and LED sign:
Window service is the move.
I love this model.
I decided to run this concept as pickup and card only for now…
So we’ll see how that goes.
Our soft open also went well.
We did $350 in sales with little to no promotion so I’m happy to break even on a soft open.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support us (you know who you are).
My power list (a mix of short and long-term projects):
Build new team member guide
Will have this done by May 23 (opening day)
Batch a month’s worth of social content
Train the team through the first 2 weeks
I will be in the shops every day until I leave for MTL on June 8.
Identify ways to improve workflow in the shop
ACQUISITION #2
Nothing new this week.
I’ve been so locked into Remix that other deals have taken a back seat.
VEER CONCEPTS
No updates on the Wellness Center and Bakery this week but I’ll have some time in the coming weeks to get the pre-application over to the city.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go here.
COMMUNITY
I’m hosting my 2nd workout and social… this time in Arizona.
It’s my last event until mid-July, so come hang out from 12-1:30 pm on Saturday.
I also co-hosted another virtual speed networking event on Tuesday.
These events are a great way to connect communities together.
Devin and I will keep working on this monthly series so stay tuned for the next one.
