Happy New Year!
I’m writing this on the first.
Trying to find words to express how 2023 felt.
I’m so grateful and proud.
But I don’t feel accomplished.
I left so much on the table.
I didn’t meet the expectations I set for myself.
So as I sit here reflecting, I feel like something is missing.
You may relate to this.
You set outrageous goals and put timelines on everything.
And if you don’t reach 100% of what you set out to, you’re convinced that you failed.
We both know there’s no reason you should feel this way.
But I get it.
I feel this every single day.
So join me on this if you’d like.
This year’s approach is different.
I’m reframing the way I look at the world, myself, and my life.
I’m not going to focus on maximizing every little second of my day.
I’m going to be more present with the work I’m doing, and the people I’m with.
All the get to December 31st with the hope of feeling accomplished.
Alright, enough about me.
Let’s get into it.
Don’t forget to forward this to a friend, partner, colleague, or hater (if you’re into it).
Quick Question
I’m looking to host a few more events this year.
Private dinners (10 people) with a curated menu at a price point of around $50 per person.
Health and wellness retreats (10-15 people) select destinations to spend the day connecting.
I’d appreciate your thoughts on these.

Book
Die with Zero by Bill Perkins
It’s a twist on personal finance encouraging you to prioritize your spending on experiences that you enjoy while you can rather than saving everything you have and/or spending on possessions to keep up with the Joneses.
I haven’t resonated with this in the past but going back to what I mentioned above…
I believe the experiences coming in 2024 will get me closer to that feeling of accomplishment.
Podcast
Patrick O’Shaughnessy deserves a follow for the guests he brings on his show.
He just interviewed Justin Ishbia from Shore Capital about acquiring nearly 600 companies in the last three years.
If you’re interested in business acquisition and how to manage a strong team…
Take some notes.
Video
I met a cool dude at a running club this morning and he sent me this documentary to watch.
I haven’t yet but he sure sold me on it.
Let me know what you think.
Health
Half marathon is coming up in 2 weeks.
So I’m head down in weekly mileage trying to get my legs prepared for the next 2 months.
With that, there’s a shift in how I’ve approached the gym.
Here’s the current split I’m doing to optimize hypertrophy and time spent in the gym.
Full Body Split
Calves - calf raises (seated or standing)
Hamstrings - leg curls (seated or laying)
Quads - leg press
Chest - flat press (barbell or dumbbell)
Back - lat pulldown
Delts - reserve peck deck
Biceps - seated bicep curls
Triceps - tricep (pushdown or pulldown)
Abs - hanging leg raise & cable crunch
I’ve been doing 4 sets of each lift for about 12-15 reps.
Give it a go if you’re looking for a good lift to add to your arsenal.
