The Real Currency of Business
Social capital is the trust, goodwill, and credibility you build with people.
You earn it by being useful, consistent, and genuine with zero expectation of return.
Every interaction is a transaction. You’re either making a deposit or a withdrawal.
I’m sure you’ve told yourself that you hate “transactional relationships.”
But truth is, every relationship is transactional. Some people just play the long game.
Never ask too soon…
How to Build It
Play infinite games. Assume every relationship lasts decades.
Help first. Give give give, and maybe give some more.
Make real intros. One minute from you can change ten years for them.
Stay present. Small touchpoints matter more than you think.
Delay the ask. The longer you wait, the more valuable it becomes.
Why It Matters
Every big opportunity I’ve had - business, brand, collaborations, etc traces back to relationships built with no ask attached.
If you want to grow faster, stop collecting contacts. Start compounding trust.
